About this work

Tapestry with falconry: in the foreground four riders looking to the right. The front two horses, a bay and a grey, are ridden by Amazons; two dark horses by riders. In front of them lies a heron on which a falcon stands with turned away spread wings. A dog looks up at a heron in the air that falls under a shooting falcon. On the right stand two men and a woman with a net. The scene is seen in a forest landscape with a view in the middle and high trees on the sides, while the foreground is filled with large-leaved flowering plants, e.g. red, bramble, chamomile, iris; some repeat on the left. The tapestry is part of the series "English Hunts".
