About this work

Strip of black machine lace: machine-made Le Puy lace. The repeating pattern consists of feather motifs hanging from a meander band. Along the top edge of the strip, a typical coarse hexagonal ornamental ground with dots is applied. Between the feathers, a much finer machine lattice ground is applied. The top edge of the strip is finished straight. The shell edge with deep shells is formed by the underside of the hanging feathers and is finished with picots.
