About this work

Fichu of linen batiste, embroidered on the back with a grapevine with grapes and vines in plumétis of white cotton, within a floral border and finished all around with a ruffled strip of Mechelen bobbin lace. Model: two tapering slips ending in a round point, with a semi-circular hanging part on the back. Decoration: finished all around with a small open hem above which a floral border in white cotton. Center back a cartouche crowned by a motif of flowers and leaves in different stitches, below button stitch, needle lace, stem stitch and ingrip stitch. Below a grapevine with leaves of ingrip stitch and grapes composed of button stitches, flanked by fantasy leaves. The whole is finished all around with a narrow ruffled strip of Mechelen bobbin lace.
