About this work
Canezou of natural-colored lace embroidery: tulle cutwork. The neckerchief has a double collar and two bands. The canezou spreads widely when worn over the wide gigot sleeves of dresses of that time and has a very low shoulder seam. The bands are not tied but crossed under the waist of a dress worn. The edge is scalloped, with a sickle-shaped ear of corn in each scallop. In the split points of the top layer a flower branch is embroidered with open work in the flowers.
