About this work

Strip of natural-colored mixed lace: Venetian bobbin lace. Pattern of volute runners, with whimsically shaped flowers and acanthus leaves on an irregular, open spool ground (needle lace) with picots. The contours of the pattern are formed by a cluny ribbon with holes. Within the contours various decorative grounds. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace. The underside is finished with a straight picot edge with arches.
