About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Milanese lace (ribbon lace). The strip was possibly made or used for trim and rochet. The repeating pattern consists of curling vines. The motifs are made with ribbons of more or less equal width and worked in linen stitch with openwork edges. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a Valenciennes ground. The sides are finished with a bobbin-edged band in linen stitch and the underside is finished with an arch-edge with picots.
