Strip of bobbin lace with five rows of teardrop-shaped flowers on straight stems with two leaves, overlapping at the bottom with a decorative border of arches

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. With five rows of drop-shaped flowers on a straight stem with two leaves. The bottom two rows of flowers are slightly smaller and overlap with the decorative border of arches. The motifs are worked in linen stitch and provided with thicker shiny contour threads. They are connected by a fine trellis ground, the Mechelen ground. In the decorative border two different coarser grounds are applied, including a rose ground. The upper edge of the strip is straight finished with a separately bobbin-edged band, above which an extra strip of (machine-made?) tulle is sewn. The very flat scalloped edge is finished with picots.
