Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. Under a scattering pattern of five rows of rosette flowers the repeating pattern along the lower edge of the strip consists of a diagonally placed thin branch, from which a cluster of rosette flowers hangs down. A semicircular shell is formed around each cluster of rosette flowers. The branches with flower clusters are made in little linen stitch, with a cut-out in the flower centers and thicker and shiny contour threads. The rosette flowers in the scattering pattern are made with contour threads, where square motifs in shaped stitch are applied in each openwork flower center. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a Mechelen ground. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight. The shell border at the lower edge is finished with picots.
