Strip of Bobbin Lace with Fine Scrollwork Along a Straight Line Under a Strew Pattern

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechlin lace. The upper part of the strip consists of two rows of alternating an openwork circle and a hanging star-shaped flower with three leaves on a split stem. Along the lower part of the strip runs a straight line around which a vine winds with fine flowers and leaves. Directly below this lies along the underside of the strip a series of ovals, each with one trilobed leaf in between. The motifs are worked in linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a Mechlin ground. The top of the strip is finished with a separately bobbin-laced band. The bottom of the strip is finished straight and provided with picots. The short sides are finished with a hem.
