About this work

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with a repeating motif of a rose branch and four leaf scrolls on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. The four scrolls, all with different leaves, wave from one point in the same direction. Regular arches with shells along the underside are formed by alternating a scroll and a series of rosette flowers, always connected to each other by one larger rosette flower. In the center of the scroll a zigzag line of picotted spindles. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
