Strip of bobbin lace with wavy flower and leaf vine

Insert of natural-colored bobbin lace: Flemish lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of wavy flower and leaf vines. A broad leaf with pointed ends forms a half-wave, from which a drop-shaped flower springs. The other half of each wave consists of a more or less oval narrower leaf from which curling leaves spring and a bouquet of three rosette flowers. The motifs are largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges and here and there fine cutouts. The motifs are connected to each other by a five-hole ground. Snowflake grounds are used as decorative ground and in the broad leaf with pointed ends a net stitch filling is applied with five circles in linen stitch therein. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight and provided with picots. Along one of the long sides a strip of linen is attached, a fragment of bed linen. One third of the seam between the linen strip and the insert is left open.
