Insert of bobbin lace with volute motif on remnants of linen bed linen with drawn thread work

Insertion of natural-colored Dutch bobbin lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of a volute motif placed alternately upside down. The motifs are worked in linen stitch with openwork edges and are connected by a lattice ground. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight and each attached to a narrow strip of linen - hems - with a narrow edge of drawn thread work. On one long side, part of the drawn thread work has disappeared and the middle section is a separate hem where no traces of drawn thread work are visible. Each short side is sewn together to a point. It concerns the remains of bed linen, likely a pillowcase. The lace was possibly made in Flanders and the bed linen in the Northern Netherlands.
