About this work

Insert of natural-colored bobbin lace: Old Flemish lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists along the top and bottom of the strip of a row of half circles, with in between on the center line of the strip a row of thick four-pointed star flowers. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The motifs are connected by thick short braids which seem to form the beginning of a lattice ground. In the center of the flowers a simple (ornamental) ground is applied. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight.
