About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: old Flemish lace with plaited ground. The repeating but seemingly chaotic pattern consists of three rows of continuous coral vines with S-shaped and C-shaped motifs with a round knob at each end. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and are connected by a plaited ground, where the plaiting almost forms a regular mesh ground. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, the bottom side provided with picots.
