About this work
Small strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Old Flemish lace or Dutch bobbin lace. The strip is attached to a narrow rectangular fragment of linen batiste, possibly a remnant of a sheet. The lace has a pattern that consists of vertical straight lines, between which a stylised flower stands. On the centre line the flower is flanked on the left and right by a lying pointed oval, which always cuts through the vertical line. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openings, there is hardly any ground, the motifs are connected to each other by very short braids. The top and bottom of the strip are finished with a straight edge.
