About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating pattern consists of a jumble of small motifs made with different grounds. Their outlines are partially emphasized with narrow decorative bands with rectangles, made in buttonhole stitch. On the center line, the decorative bands form a V-shape at regular intervals, intersected by two interlocking C-shapes. The motifs are connected by an irregular decorative ground, a snowflake ground. The top and bottom edges of the strip are finished straight, the bottom edge having picots. The short ends are finished with a hem.
