About this work
Prayer rug with one cross panel, KULA. Central field: red mihrab with flat triangular gable, containing a branched flower stem hanging in blue and yellow. The spandrels are sky blue with straight rows of hollyhocks. A narrow upper cross panel is in brown with hollyhocks. Borders: multiple. The widest consists of seven stripes in white, purple, black and beige. The first inner border is white, the second pale yellow and framed in bands. Only one such band runs around the outside.
