About this work
Prayer rug with two transverse panels, KULA. Central field: around a grey-beige mihrab with a flat, straight gable and two columns of stems with flowers, runs a cobalt blue border with yellow irises, continuing as spandrels. A wide upper panel and a narrow lower panel have a black ground, each with a row of beige carnations. Borders: multiple. Between ochre-yellow borders with running flower vines are six stripes in black, white, and ochre.
