About this work

Diamond and grid carpet. Central field: in a wide speckled orange grid, diamonds in blue, grey-green, dark terra, and brown with inner diamonds in cardinal purple, green, blue, and white, upon which a star-flower in contrasting color. Borders: triple. The widest has linked cartouches in green, blue, black, terra, orange, and rust color. Upon them stand double hook-stars in opposite colors. The inner selvage is purple with a green running-dog motif. The outer selvage is rust-colored with the same motif in light blue. Fringe: short brown fringes and embroidered finish in dirty cotton color.
