About this work
Palmette floral carpet, so-called SMYRNA, based on an ushak decoration. Central field: cornflower-blue field with an infinite repeat of symmetrical palmettes facing each other along the central axis, composed of spreading leaves with three flowers. Between each pair of palmettes stand four lance leaves and a rosette in coral red, pink, light blue, ochre, and white. Border: triple. The main border is red with vines and colored palmette flowers and rosette flowers in the mentioned colors and in aubergine. Inner selvage of yellow and outer selvage of black with a stretched "comma" vine.
