About this work

Star-medallion carpet, Star-ushak or karapinar. Central field: rust-red ground with a large compound eight-pointed star related to Ushak in blue-green with yellow contours. The lower and upper ends are light brown, filled with yellow, red-outlined vines resembling hooked arabesques or Kufic script. In the star, a rhomboid stem formation with carnations and blocks with X's. Border: triple. The main border is yellow with volutes related to the tsij sign in blue/red and green-blue/red. Inner and outer selvages are equal, with a twisted rod.
