About this work
Carpet, Karabagh or Shirwan. Central field: dark blue ground with four stacked octagons spanning the full width. The colors are white, burnt Sienna, sea green and burnt Sienna again. In each stands a stepped-gable block in blue, red and white with outward-facing hooks. In the corners, scattered ornaments. Border: threefold. Three equally narrow borders are respectively red, yellow and blue, filled with zigzag lines, rosettes and crab motifs.
