About this work

Medallion carpet, Karabagh or Kazak. Central field: cerise red ground with six octagonal medallions in blue, sea green and blue; here on fourfold blocks in purple, white and red, all surrounded by a composite cross of hooks. Further scattered ornaments. Border: threefold. Narrow middle border of white with eight-petaled flowers. Inner border wider and of sea green; the outer border also wider and of blue, both with widely scattered rhombus flowers on straight stems.
