Square Cashmere Shawl with Plain Ecru Field, Bordered by a Blue Border Filled with Ecru and Yellow Bouquets

Square palm shawl of woven silk with a plain ecru centre. The pattern consists of an outer border of blue ground, upon which horizontally ecru-coloured and vertically yellow right-facing palmettes of equal shape are placed within the inner. Narrow strips of ecru-coloured with rosette leaves in white enclose the edges. In the corner they intersect. Along one corner run two inner borders with a continuous row of right-facing palmettes, the standing ones are in light lemon yellow, with a small volute and in the border a blue rosette flower, but the lying border is in ecru. The technique consists of a silk warp and a silk weft in twill weave 1/3. I.e. twills in warp twill in the right standing border and weft twill in the central field and the left side border. There is only plain weave in the strips around the border and at the selvage. The colour threads on the reverse side are kept floating and not cut.
