About this work

Folding fan with a black silk gauze leaf with an application of black machine-made lace with floral ornaments and C-scrolls; the edge is scalloped. The black-painted wooden mount is carved in relief, has 18 non-connected ribs, of which the right outer rib is pierced. The fan has a metal fan ring and a black mother-of-pearl disc. Possibly a mourning fan.
