About this work
Handkerchief of batiste with embroidery on the corners in which needle lace decorative stitches in openwork. Embroidery: each corner has a different animal motif, a sheep, a swan, a deer and a little bird. The animals stand in a landscape with trees and plants. The swan swims in a pond. Besides flora and fauna there is in the corner with the little bird also a small building, a gloriette and the deer stands by a fence. In each corner openwork parts are filled with needle lace stitches. The handkerchief is finished with hems along which an extremely narrow border of work with drawn threads runs.
