Cuff of bobbin lace with sickle-shaped leaf and flower branches

Cuff of natural-colored net with a border of bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The net is unadorned and slightly darker in tone than the Mechelen lace sewn to the net. Trapezium bell-shaped model. The repeating pattern of the Mechelen lace consists of semi-circular scallops, formed by fine leaves standing on the outside of a curved rocaille motif. On the inside feathered long leaves and a group of six rosette flowers or forget-me-nots. On the field above scattered blossoms. The motifs are made in linen stitch and are accentuated by thicker shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a Mechelen ground. In the leaves a decoration with dots is made in form stitch. The lace is made in Belgium, the cuffs are made in the Netherlands. This cuff is missing a part of the upper side of the strip of Mechelen lace, which has been replaced by a strip of machine net.
