About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Lille lace. The repeating pattern consists on the centre line of a row of diagonally placed feather-shaped leaves with below it a row of linked circular motifs, which form openwork shells. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine lattice ground, a tulle ground. The sparse filling is made in linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. The upper side is finished straight. The shells along the underside are finished with picots.
