About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Lille lace. Below two rows of whimsical motifs runs a wavy vine with a rosette flower at each crest. Over each rosette flower runs a whimsical arch formed by an elongated leaf. Similar inverted arches, alternated with ovals, form the shallow shells along the lower edge of the strip. The motifs are connected by a fine lattice ground, a tulle ground. The sparse solid work is executed in linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. In the ovals is alternately placed a small cushion, executed in form stitch. The top and lower edges of the strip are finished straight, the lower edge provided with picots.
