About this work

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Argentan lace. Pattern with a wavy leaf vine just along the lower edge and above it a scattering motif with six different flower twigs. Ground with hexagonal meshes that are closely sewn with buttonhole stitches. Leaf vine with branches bending up and down with leaves. Below the vine a finer mesh ground, an Alençon ground. Slightly scalloped picot border on the underside by an alternation of leaves, whether or not from the leaf vine, and small open ovals with a wheel picot in the centre. The upper side is finished with a straight edge.
