Strip of needle lace with floral scatter pattern and pointed ovals

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace, Argentan lace. Sprig pattern of twigs bearing alternating small or large flowers, leaves and/or berries. Ground with meshes closely worked over with buttonhole stitches. Pattern along the lower edge consists of two pointed ovals facing one another with a flower or berry twig sprouting between them. Oval pairs connected by a bow of leaves and/or berries and hearts. Under these bows along the lower edge a flat, horizontal oval. Oval-shaped figures in the pattern filled with a fine hexagonal mesh ground (Alençon ground). Various ornamental grounds in the flowers. Solid work without cutouts in flowers, leaves and berries. Scalloped edge at the bottom formed by a string of heart-shaped leaves, regularly interrupted by a rosette flower and the flat horizontal oval. Upper side finished with a straight edge.
