About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace, Argentan lace. Ground pattern of twigs to which alternately a small or large flower, leaves and/or berries are attached. Ground with meshes closely overcast with buttonhole stitches. The pattern along the lower edge consists of two pointed ovals facing each other, between which a flower or berry twig springs. The oval pairs are connected to each other by a small arch of leaves and/or berries and hearts. Under these arches along the lower edge a flat, lying oval. The oval-shaped figures in the pattern are filled with a fine hexagonal mesh ground (Alençon ground). Various decorative grounds in the flowers. Solid work without cutouts in flowers, leaves and berries. Shell edge on the underside formed by a series of heart-shaped leaves, interrupted at regular intervals by a rosette flower and the flat lying oval. The upper side is finished with a straight edge.
