About this work

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Alençon lace. Repetitive, continuous motif with a wavy leaf vine just along the lower edge, on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. Below the vine a finer mesh ground. Above the vine a scattering motif with flower twigs. At regular intervals two shorter and two longer twigs stick out of the leaf vine upwards that bend in opposite directions. The longest twig has a broad base with a filler ground in it. In all leaves filling with buttonhole stitches without openings. Slightly scalloped edge with very fine picots on the underside, along a long spiral vine. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace.
