Strip of needle lace with floral branches and star-shaped flowers

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace, Argentan and Alençon lace. Repetitive motif with two different flower twigs, each flanked by two star-shaped flowers placed one above the other, on a ground with meshes closely worked over with buttonhole stitches (Argentan lace). The flower twigs bend towards each other alternately. Along the lower side under a wavy line under which a pattern of flowers and berries on a fine hexagonal mesh ground (Alençon lace). Ornamental ground with wheel picots in the larger flowers and the circles along the lower edge. Solid work with minimal cutouts within the contours of the other motifs. Scalloped edge at the bottom formed by a string of circles, regularly interrupted by a rosette flower. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
