About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Scattered motif on a fine hexagonal mesh ground, with two different flower twigs across the center line, to which many oval leaves are attached. The flower twigs are surrounded by a clear pattern of sprigs and twigs with three leaves. The pattern at the bottom of the strip consists of a series of ovals, a five-petaled flower and crossing arches ending in heart-shaped leaves. Flower twigs emerge from the ovals filled with grounds. The underside is finished with a slightly wavy border with razor-fine picots. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
