About this work

Strip of natural-colored Brussels appliqué lace, needle lace applied on machine-made tulle. Sprig pattern with two rows of twigs each with one bellflower, on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. The slightly scalloped lower edge comes from the repetitive motif of a wavy leafy twig with two flowers and a flower bud. Motifs with relief contours of widely festooned thread bundles. Decorative stitches in the flowers and flower buds and between some leaves. The upper edge is finished with a bobbin lace band.
