Strip of bobbin lace with curved branches and pomegranates

Strip of natural-coloured Brussels bobbin lace. The pattern consists of curved branches with leaves, flowers and/or berries. The branches bend randomly to the one or the other side and are alternated by branches with pomegranates and other larger flowers. The lower edge consists of a stringing together of small motifs that form various cartouches. The motifs are connected by a fine lattice ground, a drochel ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and largely provided with bobbin-relief contours. As decorative grounds among others picoted plait grounds and a snowflake ground have been applied. The upper side is finished with a separately bobbin-edged band. The very shallow and irregularly scalloped lower side results from the border pattern and is finished with picots.
