About this work

Small cloth of natural-colored machine-made lace. Square model with hollow sides and blunt corners. The pattern consists in the center of an oval medallion with a large flower inside with many intersecting petals, like a dahlia or chrysanthemum. In the corners the pattern has triangular flower motifs and the border has a decorative band of volutes and pointed oval medallions. The motifs are provided with contour threads and are connected to each other by a variation of machine-made lattice grounds with coarser and finer round lattice. As a decorative ground a machine-made rose ground has been applied.
