Strip of bobbin lace with diamonds above a border with columns

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: strop lace or 's Gravenmoerse lace. The repeating and geometric pattern consists along the upper half of the strip of a row of diamonds in net stitch, which are connected to each other by an inverted V where a smaller diamond hangs below on a 'stem'. The smaller diamond is made in linen stitch. The contours of the motifs are accentuated by a thick shiny thread. The lower half of the strip consists of three rows of small diamonds in net stitch between which three rows of openwork ovals in a closed buttonhole ground. A thick shiny contour thread forms around the openwork ovals and diamonds a pattern with columns. The top of the strip is finished straight, the bottom being provided with picots.
