About this work
Strip of machine lace: machine-made Binche lace. The symmetrical pattern is formed by a hanging sunflower or daisy next to a candelabra-like motif that is built up from curling feathered leaves, with a crown in the top. The motifs are provided with openwork edges and are connected to each other by a machine-made plait ground. As decorative ground various machine-made snowflake grounds are applied. Top and bottom side of the strip are finished straight, whereby the underside is provided with picots.
