About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, strop lace. The repeating pattern consists on the middle band of a diamond. Between the successive diamonds always hangs a fan-shaped shell downwards, with an openwork vertical band. The diamonds are connected along the upper side by a coarse mesh ground, a Paris ground. The diamonds are made in net stitch and the fans in linen stitch. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The shells are finished with picots.
