About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: strap lace. The repeating pattern consists of a double zigzag-line between which a chain of linked rhombus-shaped fields arises. In each field always one pointed oval stands, which is connected with overlapping pairs to the zigzag-lines. Also in the corners under and above the lines always one pointed oval stands. These pointed ovals are connected to each other with a trellis ground: a coarse strap trellis ground. Along the underside of the strip a shell border is formed by an alternation of a heart-shaped motif and a hanging fan-shaped motif. The zigzag-lines, pointed ovals and fan-shaped motifs are made in linen stitch. The heart-shaped motifs are alternately made in linen stitch and in net stitch. The top side of the strip is finished straight.
