Teapot, oval with eight ribs, engraved with C-scrolls

The oval teapot rests on a straight-sided, contoured base. Rising above this is an arched, tapering foot that supports the flattened globular body. This is divided into panels by eight vertical ribs, each engraved with a symmetrical ornament built from C-scrolls. At the top of the body is an oval opening with a raised rim. Into this fits the separate, pressed globular lid with a spreading rim, engraved with a symmetrical pattern of C-scrolls. The lid is crowned by a knob in the form of a flowering branch. The teapot has an S-shaped curved spout, engraved on the underside with C-scrolls and rocailles, and a wooden ear composed of an S- and a C-scroll, blackened and connected to the pot by two silver fittings, the upper one in the form of a C-scroll, the lower one tapering to a point.
