Chair with Carved Bird and Dog Heads

Mahogany chair resting on four splayed legs on castors. The front and rear legs are connected by a stretcher whose tenons, from the mortise-and-tenon joints, pass through the legs. The rear legs continue into the back rails and end in carved bird heads. The back of the backrest consists of five planks. The outer sides of the splats on which the armrests rest each consist of six planks filling the space between the seat frame and the armrests. The armrests end in carved dog heads. The seat, backrest and inner sides of the splats are upholstered in green wool with an arabesque pattern of red rosettes and yellow palmettes.
