Armchair with high closed sides

Armchair of mahogany with closed sides resting on splayed legs. The splayed legs are connected to the four stiles and the K-shaped cross that joins the lower rails. The front legs are connected to the lower rails by brass plates with a rounded head. The stiles extend into the slightly hollowed arm supports, upon which slightly wavy armrests rest. The seat frame, which overhangs at the front and back, has a snail-shaped knob at the front corners and a volute-shaped knob at the rear corners. At the back, the seat frame rests on two rails placed between the two stiles, the rear one supported by two braces. The back is divided into two planes by three rails. The upper plane is closed; the lower compartment has a wide, curved central stile built from three parts. The top rail projects and ends in carved knobs. The loose seat is upholstered in calico with stylized flowers and ornaments in beige, red, and yellow.
