Strip of bobbin lace with hanging flowers in shell border

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. Under a scattering pattern of flowers stands a row of one-sidedly directed flower branches, with thereon five small flowers and one large flower. The largest flowers hang down and form the shell edge along the underside of the strip. The motifs are connected to each other by a lattice ground, a Mechelen ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and around the motifs run thicker contour threads. Two types of decorative grounds are used and decorations in square form stitch. The upper side and one side are finished with a straight edge, the other side is not finished.
