Strip of machine-made lace with crossing branches with carnations

Strip of natural-coloured machine-made lace. The repeating pattern consists of a double branch, with one carnation-like flower on each branch. One branch bends downwards and crosses the other branch which bends upwards. Along the lower side lie curling feathered leaves and some smaller flowers and leaves. The curling leaves form rocaille-like fields, which are filled with an ornamental ground. The motifs suggest being made in linen stitch and are provided with shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected to each other by a very fine machine-made tulle ground. The shell border along the lower side of the strip results from the pattern. The upper side is finished with a separate strip of machine-made lace.
