About this work
Strip of natural-colored and blue bobbin lace: Caen blonde. Along the lower edge of the strip, beneath one row of motifs, runs a zigzag edge of inverted V-motifs. One leg of each V-motif is worked in linen stitch with a thicker shiny contour thread, and the other leg consists only of a contour thread within which an ornamental ground is applied, a rose ground. The trellis ground above in which the motifs are worked is a tulle ground and is worked with a blue thread. The upper side of the strip is straight finished. The shell edge with triangular shells is formed by the zigzag and is finished with picots.
