About this work

Necktie of natural-colored needle lace: flat Venetian lace. Apparently disorderly yet symmetrical pattern with a vertical axis in the middle from which many curling flower and leaf tendrils radiate. The motifs are executed in buttonhole stitches, with cutouts creating simple patterns of various flowers and leaves. The motifs are connected by a picoted spool ground. The upper side of the strip is finished with a drawn thread band. The underside and two short sides are finished with a bow border.
