About this work

Fragment of a cast-iron stove plate, divided into two zones. Only the upper part has been preserved, depicting the Judgment of Solomon. Centrally, Solomon is depicted, seated on a throne with a canopy supported by two columns and a crown floating above his head. To his left stand two soldiers with a kneeling woman. In front of her on the steps to the throne lies a baby in a box. To the right of Solomon is a second woman. She holds a baby in her hands and is surrounded by four figures. In the background, the towers of a city are depicted. Below the steps is a text band.
